Decent Stay Amidst Challenges

During our family trip, the staff interaction left much to be desired, but the spacious Standard Queen Room with a view of the forest provided comfort. A tip, skip the breakfast. It's quite basic. The location offers beautiful scenery, perfect for outdoor activities.

The hotel has so very friendly staff.

The staff is amiable here, the services are great, and location is magnificent so close to the mountain and Winter Park and the Winter Park Ski Resort. Overall great food, plus there is Derailer Bar close by...

The bathrooms are very small.

Failed window units in room (foggy); no microwave in room as was stated on Booked.net's sheet of amenities; small tv; bed and pillows not that comfortable.

Very clean and very comfortable (especially the beds and pillows).

It fit our budget, was clean and comfortable. Would like to have seen more low-dollar menu selections. Would liked to have seen the cafe stick to its posted hours even if business was slow. We do plan to stay again next year. Thanks.

Would recommend for a short stay

Spacious room, convenient location, with a beautiful view of the ski runs and easy access to shuttles for quick transport to the village meant we had a great stay, especially with good amenities like free parking and a nice indoor pool.

There was nothing in particular that stuck out with the location.

The room was dingy, the toilet ran all night. Our "mountain view" was a dumpster and the back of the building.

the shuttle service made it super easy to get to the winter park resort and enjoy a beautiful view of the ski runs from my room, large and comfortable for a weekend getaway.

The price and location

We stayed in a suite, it was roomy but the curtains were full of holes, the tv movie programming didn't work, half of the vending machines were out of order, the sauna wasn't on during advertised hours, the maid woke us up at 8:45am, my companion left her computer on a chair in the lobby and no one noticed or called the phone number I left as part of our reservation. She had to drive back from Niwot (a 4 hour round trip) because no one made any effort to contact me after they found her computer. The bartender asked me if I wanted to make my drink a "double" but neglected to mention that it would cast twice the price (not a normal practice, especially when it is offered as an upgrade, $11 for a rum and coke?). So....although it was a great price, the hotel seems to be in very poor condition, lot's of stuff doesn't work (oh yeah, the in-room ice machine didn't work and the other stuff in teh kitchenette made intermittant noises that woke us several times in the night), it just doesn't seem like anyone is paying attention to any of the details that would make all the difference. This property has so much potential. You're probably sorry you asked.
